June 02, 2026 | The Movement - A Study in Acts by Byron McWilliams
Day 1: The Gospel Is God's Power for Salvation
Reading: Romans 1:16-17; Acts 8:1-4
Devotional:
The gospel is not merely good advice—it is the power of God unto salvation. When persecution scattered the early church, believers did not retreat in silence. They went everywhere "gossiping the gospel," sharing the good news that had transformed their lives. The same power that raised Christ from the dead is available to set captives free today.
Consider this: if you have been set free from sin's bondage, is that freedom not worthy of sharing? The gospel you possess is the only hope for the lost people in your life. God does not require you to have all the answers—He simply asks you to open your mouth and share what Christ has done for you. Will you trust Him to give you the words?
Day 2: Scattered to Multiply
Reading: Acts 8:4-8; Matthew 5:13-16
Devotional:
God's ways are mysterious. What appeared to be a devastating blow to the church—persecution and scattering—became God's strategy for exponential growth. Like salt shaken from a shaker or embers from a fire, believers spread throughout Judea and Samaria, igniting the gospel flame wherever they landed.
God has strategically placed you in your workplace, neighborhood, and relationships. You are salt and light in those spaces. When you leave church each week, do you scatter with intention? Do you see your everyday interactions as divine appointments? The same Holy Spirit who empowered Philip to transform Samaria wants to work through you today. You are not scattered by accident—you are positioned by divine design. Ask God to open your eyes to the opportunities around you.
Day 3: Everyone Must Hear
Reading: Acts 1:8; Romans 10:13-15
Devotional:
"How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" The Lord Jesus came to seek and save the lost, and He has commissioned His church to continue that mission. From Jerusalem to Judea to Samaria to the ends of the earth—this is God's pattern for church growth and gospel advancement.
Every person you know is either lost or saved—there is no middle ground. To be lost means to die in sin and spend eternity separated from God in hell. This is not a comfortable truth, but it is reality. The gospel of Jesus Christ is their only hope. Who is your "one"? Who has God placed on your heart? When will you share with them? Do not let fear or excuses silence you. If you know enough to be saved, you know enough to share.
Day 4: God Blesses Gospel Faithfulness
Reading: Acts 8:5-8; 1 Corinthians 3:6-7
Devotional:
When Philip proclaimed Christ in Samaria, God confirmed the message with signs, wonders, and transformed lives. The result? "There was much joy in that city." God delights in blessing the faithful proclamation of His gospel. He desires to see His church grow and people set free.
You cannot save anyone—that is God's work alone. But you can be faithful to plant and water the seed of the gospel. God will give the increase. The key to experiencing God's blessing in your life and church is taking seriously what God has called you to do and then doing it. Stop waiting for the perfect moment or the perfect words. Start "gossiping the gospel" wherever you go. Share what Jesus has done for you, and watch God work.
Day 5: Awake, O Sleeper
Reading: Ephesians 5:14-20; 2 Timothy 4:1-5
Devotional:
"Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you." These words call both the lost to salvation and the saved to spiritual alertness. The church can easily fall asleep—going through religious motions while neglecting the mission Jesus gave us.
It is time to wake up. The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. God is not looking for perfect people with seminary degrees—He is looking for willing hearts who will open their mouths and share. When you stand before God, will you be able to say you valued Christ enough to tell others about Him? The gospel that saved you is worthy of sharing. Today, ask the Holy Spirit to burden your heart for someone who needs Jesus. Then pray for boldness, watch for the opportunity, and speak when God opens the door.
